The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT), the former University Institute of Danang was established on July 15th, 1975 upon the Decree No. 66/QD of the Revolutionary People’s Committee in Central Vietnam. In October 1976, The Prime Minister issued the Decree No. 426/TTg to establish Danang Polytechnic University based on the foundation of the University Institute of Danang. Along with the establishment of The University of Danang  upon the Decree No. 32/CP of the Government in April, 1994, Danang Polytechnic University was renamed University of  Engineering and became a member of the University of Danang. As one of the three polytechnic universities in Vietnam, DUT has a responsibility to train high quality technical and technological human resources as well as implement science and technology activities in order to serve development demands of the Central Coast - Highlands and the whole country. Together with domestic partners, DUT has built partnerships with more than 50 prestigious universities, institutes, and academic associations all over the world. DUT now consists of 14 Faculties, 01 Center of Excellence, 08 Administration Departments, 01 Division of specialized foreign languages, 02 Institute and 10 Centers of scientific research and technology transfer, 01 Learning Resource and Communication Center. Currently, the University has deployed 33 undergraduate programs including: 21 traditional programs; 02 Vietnamese-American Advanced Programs; 03 Vietnamese-French Programme of Excellent Engineers; 14 high quality training programs. Regarding post-graduate programs, 16 master programs and 13 doctorate programs has been implemented.

National Institutional Accreditation at UD-DUT

The University of Science and Technology is one of the first universities over the Nation to implement Institutional Quality Assessment based on Quality Standards issued by MOET in October 2006 and had its quality recognized in the period 2009 - 2014. At that time, there were 03 Technical Education programs in Electrical-Electronic, Electronic-Information Technology, Industrial Engineering which were being internally assessed based on the MOET Assessment Standards in 2009. Since 2007 DUT has applied ISO 9001-2000. The University then has deployed self-assessment according to MOET’s new Institutional Accreditation standards including 10 criteria and 61 sub-criterions from January 2015 to May 2016. The Center for Education Accreditation - Vietnam National University Hanoi was invited to conduct officially assessment on May 2016 and DUT has been then certified Institutional Accreditation for the period 2016- 2021.


International Institutional Accreditation at UD-DUT

On June 12th, 2017, DUT has been accredited by the High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) - a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and the European Standards and Guidelines. The Accreditation achieved at the highest level with the duration of 5 years (from June 2017 to June 2022) is a deserved recognition for extreme efforts, firm commitment of DUT to training quality and transparency to society and related sides over the years, which encourages the quality assurance and continuous improvement. This is the first time in Vietnamese higher education system, the HEI evaluation was implemented by an International Accreditation Organization. The evaluation was carried out under the request of Viet Nam’s Ministry of Education and Training, in April 2016.


CTI Assessment for PFIEV Programs at UD-DUT

Since 2004 up to now, the 03 Vietnamese-French Programmes of Excellent Engineers (PFIEV) have been assessed and certified by Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur, Europe. The 3rd Assessment and Recognition was accomplished in September 2016 for 03 PFIEV Programmes: Automatic Production (Mechanical Engineering), Industrial Informatics (Electrical Engineering), Software Engineering (Information Technology).


AUN-QA Assessment for Advanced Programs at UD-DUT

Recently the 02 Advanced Programs in "Electronic and Communication Engineeering" and "Embedded Systems Engineering" had been assessed with the AUN-QA standards V2.0 and certified by AUN-QA with the highest scores in Vietnam so far.  Currently, there are 07 undergraduate programs which are being assessed under the AUN-QA standards V3.0 in 2018: Electrical - Electronic Engineering, Petrolium Engineering, Information Technology, Electronic - Telecommunication Engineering, Architecture, Construction Economics, Transportation Construction Engineering.

Through more than 40 years, DUT has been constantly expanding the training scale of undergraduate and graduate, strengthening facilities, improving staff capacity, innovating fundamentally program objectives, contents and teaching-learning methods, as well as updated modern programs to meet the socio-economic demands of the Central of Vietnam in particular and of Southeast Asia in general.
